Dept. of Applied Mathematics at ITM Universe, Vadodara in collaboration with industrial Mathematics Group at IITB, Powai-Mumbai, will be hosting Study Group Meeting (SGM) during March, 15th - 19th and as a precursor to SGM a Modeling Week (MW) has been organized during March, 10 th - 14 th 2016.
Objectives:
One of the objectives of the SGM & MW is to give exposure to Research Scholars and young faculty members to live industrial problems requiring mathematical solutions.
Emphasis of SGM:
- Generating ideas which will eventually lead to a tangible methodology for problem solving activity pertaining to specific raw problems coming from industries.
- Evolving long term interaction between academic and industry with respect to research & development perspective.
- Developing a network of mathematicians and computational scientists dealing with industrial problems.
Emphasis of MW:
- To demonstrate techniques for mathematical modeling of real world problems.
- Exposure to standard methodology for tackling the mathematical problems arising from modeling activities.
- Modeling of some sample case studies from industrial problem emphasizing its importance in real life problems.
Plan For Meeting:
Scientists, Engineers, Economists, Managers, Financial Analysts and other user community will be invited to present their technical problems. It will be the endeavor of the participants to provide useful directions toward visible solutions for problems through intense sessions of brainstorming.
Program of the meeting will involve, Problem presentation by industry participants. Formation of working groups, problem solving sessions, preparation of mid-term progress report by each group, feedback analysis, presentation of final solution.
We therefore encourage the industries to pose their nagging problems and invite them to participate in these activities. We also invite P.G. Students/ Faculties/ Researches from institutions to join their hands for providing viable solutions to these industrial problems.
